Surah Al-Anam

English Translation, Transliteration, Tafsir - Ayat [161-165]
 
Ayah 161 of 5

قُلۡ إِنَّنِي هَدَىٰنِي رَبِّيٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ دِينٗا قِيَمٗا مِّلَّةَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفٗاۚ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ

Qul innanee hadaanee Rabbeee ilaa Siraatim Mustaqeemin deenan qiyamam Millata Ibraaheema haneefaa; wa maa kaana minal mushrikeen
161. Please declare: "Surely, My Lord has shown me the Straight Path [384], a true religion, the creed of Ebrahim, who was aloof from every falsehood and he was not a polytheist[385].
Ayah 162 of 5

قُلۡ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحۡيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

Qul inna Salaatee wa nusukee wa mahyaaya wa mamaatee lillaahi Rabbil 'aalameen
162. Please declare: "Surely, My prayer and my sacrifice [386], and my living and my dying are all for Allah Who is the Lord of all the worlds" [387].

لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُۥۖ وَبِذَٰلِكَ أُمِرۡتُ وَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ

Laa shareeka lahoo wa bizaalika umirtu wa ana awwalul muslimeen
163. There is none associated with Him, so I have been commanded so. And I am (Muhammad) the first Muslim [388].

قُلۡ أَغَيۡرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبۡغِي رَبّٗا وَهُوَ رَبُّ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖۚ وَلَا تَكۡسِبُ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ إِلَّا عَلَيۡهَاۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ فِيهِ تَخۡتَلِفُونَ

Qul aghairal laahi abghee Rabbanw wa Huwa Rabbu kulli shaiyy'; wa laa taksibu kullu nafsin illaa 'alaihaa; wa laa taziru waaziratunw wizra ukhraa; summa ilaa Rabbikum marji'ukum fa yunabbi'ukum bimaa kuntum feehi takhtalifoon
164. Please declare: "Shall I seek a lord other than Allah [389], while He is the Lord of everything? And whatever a person earns, it is on his own account [390]. And no bearer of burden will bear the burden of another [391]. Then, you have to return to your Lord. He will inform you of that in which you used to differ [392]."
Ayah 165 of 5

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَكُمۡ خَلَـٰٓئِفَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَرَفَعَ بَعۡضَكُمۡ فَوۡقَ بَعۡضٖ دَرَجَٰتٖ لِّيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ فِي مَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمۡۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَرِيعُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَغَفُورٞ رَّحِيمُۢ

Wa Huwal lazee ja'alakum khalaaa'ifal ardi wa rafa'a ba'dakum fawqa ba'din darajaatil liyabluwakum fee maaa aataakum; inna Rabbaka saree'ul 'iqaabi wa innahoo la Ghafoorur Raheem
165. And it is He Who has made you vicegerents in the earth [393], and has raised one over the other in degrees among you [394], that He may try you in what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is quick in tormenting [395], and He is surely Forgiving and Merciful.

Tawhid is highly emphasized in this Surah. It contains the basic principles of Tawhid. It provides beautiful descriptions of Allah's creative power. It criticizes Shirk and its manifestations.

The following Important points have been discussed in this Surah Al-Anam

  • in this universe, Allah's Oneness is the reality.
  • There is no foundation for polytheism.
  • Tawhid was preached by Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him. Other Prophets also preached it.
  • The truth will prevail when Allah's judgment comes.
  • Food and other matters of life are guided by Allah.
