The theme / Summary of the surah as-saff

Muslims of weak faith and those who entered Islam as a cover-up are exhorted in this Surah to demonstrate sincerity in their faith, and to give their lives in the cause of Allah.

Lesson learned from surah as-saff

  1. Don’t tell others to do things you wouldn’t do yourself.  
  2. Allah's loves organisation.  
  3. The disbelievers will try and extinguish the Light of Allah's, but Allah's will ensure His Light remains in spite of their dislike.  
  4. The Da«n was sent to be dominant over others.  
  5. We need to support the cause of Allah's’s Messenger ï·º by trying our utmost in propagating his message and teachings.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

Transliteration:( Sabbaha lillaahi maa fisamaawaati wa maa fil ardi wa huwal 'Azeezul Hakeem )
1. Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth glorifies[1] Allah; and He is the Most Honourable, the Wise.

وَإِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوۡمِهِۦ يَٰقَوۡمِ لِمَ تُؤۡذُونَنِي وَقَد تَّعۡلَمُونَ أَنِّي رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَيۡكُمۡۖ فَلَمَّا زَاغُوٓاْ أَزَاغَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa iz qaala Moosa liqawmihee yaa qawmi lima tu'zoonanee wa qat ta'lamoona annee Rasoolul laahi ilaikum falammaa zaaghooo azaaghal laahu quloobahum; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmal faasiqeen )
5. And (remember) when Musa said to his people: "O my people! Why do you give me trouble [7]? And you know indeed that I am Allah's Messenger [8] (sent) to you." But when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate [9]. And Allah does not guide the transgressing people [10].

وَإِذۡ قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ يَٰبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَيۡكُم مُّصَدِّقٗا لِّمَا بَيۡنَ يَدَيَّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةِ وَمُبَشِّرَۢا بِرَسُولٖ يَأۡتِي مِنۢ بَعۡدِي ٱسۡمُهُۥٓ أَحۡمَدُۖ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالُواْ هَٰذَا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ

Transliteration:( Wa iz qaala 'Eesab-nu-Maryama yaa Banee Israaa'eela innee Rasoolul laahi ilaikum musaddiqal limaa baina yadayya minat Tawraati wa mubashshiram bi Rasooliny yaatee mim ba'dis muhooo Ahmad; falammaa jaaa'ahum bil baiyinaati qaaloo haazaa sihrum mubeen )
6. And when Isa bin Mariam said [11]: "O Children of Israeel! Surely, I am the Messenger of Allah (sent) to you confirming [12], that which is before me in the Tauraat, and giving the good news of a Messenger (Prophet) who will come after me. His name shall be Ahmad [13]." But, when he came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is clear magic [14]."

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ وَهُوَ يُدۡعَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلۡإِسۡلَٰمِۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Transliteration:( Wa man azlamu mimma nif taraa 'alal laahil kaziba wa huwa yad'aaa ilal Islaam; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmaz zaalimeen )
7.But who is more cruel than he who forges a lie against Allah when he is invited [15] to Islam? Allah does not guide the unjust people [16].

يُرِيدُونَ لِيُطۡفِـُٔواْ نُورَ ٱللَّهِ بِأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡ وَٱللَّهُ مُتِمُّ نُورِهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ

Transliteration:( Yureedoona liyutfi'oo nooral laahi bi afwaahihim wallaahu mutimmu noorihee wa law karihal kaafiroon )
8. They desire to extinguish [17] the light of Allah blowing it with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His Light, even though the infidels may hate it [18].

هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَرۡسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلۡحَقِّ لِيُظۡهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكُونَ

9. It is He Who sent His Messenger with the guidance and the true religion [19], that He may cause it to dominate over all the religions [20], even though the polytheists may hate it.

10.O believers! Shall I inform you of a trade [21] that will save you from a painful punishment?
