Wa law laaa an sabbatnaaka laqad kitta tarkanu ilaihim shai'an qaleela
"And if We had not kept you firm, it was near that you would have inclined towards them a little."
This verse affirms that even a slight inclination toward the disbelievers’ demands never occurred—and would not have occurred, solely due to Allah’s special protection.
The wording "if We had not kept you firm" points to the Divine safeguarding of the Prophet ﷺ.
It implies that without such Divine firmness, even the noblest human being might have approached error slightly, but the Prophet ﷺ was preserved completely.
