"And We have made sleep for your rest."

The Wisdom of Sleep [5]

This verse highlights the divine purpose and significance of sleep:

  1. Comfort for the Common People – Sleep serves as a means of physical and mental rest, providing comfort and rejuvenation.

  2. Peace for the Special People – For the pious and devout, sleep is not just rest; it becomes a form of peace for the heart and soul, where they find closeness to Allah.

  3. The Prophet’s Sleep as Revelation – The sleep of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is considered unique, as it sometimes served as a form of divine inspiration.

  4. A Reminder of the Day of Judgment – Sleep symbolizes the temporary nature of life and acts as a reminder of death, illustrating the helplessness of human beings.
