وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ

Wa maaa anta illaa basharum mislunaa wa innazunnuka laminal kaazibeen

186. You are nothing but a man like us [185], and we think you are among the liars. [186] (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(186) You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. (Saheeh International Translation)

Surah Ash-Shu‘ara – Verse 186 – Tafsir

You are nothing but a man like us [185], and we think you are among the liars. [186]

[186] Denial of Prophethood

They dismissed Shu‘ayb عليه السلام by pointing out his humanity, as if a prophet must be something more.
Calling him a liar reflects their refusal to accept divine truth despite clear evidence.
