Ash-Shu‘ara’ (meaning: The Poets) is the 26th chapter (Surah) of the Qurʾan having 227 verses (Ayat).
Chapter 26 is based on the belief that the disbelievers of Makkah refused to acknowledge Muhammad's message of Islam, claiming that the Prophet did not provide evidence to support his claim to prophethood. His message would be mocked and his mission would be disparaged, and he would be branded a poet or a magician.
