The summary / Theme of the Surah Al-Baqara

The Cow - Al Baqarah (The title of this surah refers to an argument between Moses and the Israelites over a cow they should sacrifice in order to make known the murder of a slain man. This is the longest of all the surah, numbering 286 ayah or verses.

Lesson Learned from Surah Al-Baqara

  1. It is sometimes better not to ask too many questions when instructed to do something. The Jews did this and ended up in trouble.
  2. Be grateful for what you have. 
  3. Don’t do anything that resembles the disbelievers, or will lead them to take your actions as legislation to attack the D\u{012b}n. In short, the principle of Sadd-Adh-Dhara ‘i’.
  4. Whatever good you send forth for the Hereafter, you will find it there safe and appreciated by Allah.
  5. You shall never be able to please the Jews and the Christians unless you join them in their religion. 
  6. The relationship between Allah and the Prophet ﷺ was immensely enviable. 
  7. Ṣabr (Patience) has great virtue: Allah showers the patient with mercy and guidance.

  9. Constantly ponder over the creation of Allah and His blessings, and remember Him. 
  10. There are constant severe warnings for disbelief in the Qur’a n.  
  11.  The status of Shuhada is indeed great.

  13. The aim of fasting is to create taqwa in the hearts of the believers.  
  14. Regularly make the following du‘a , especially at the time of Ḥajj
  15.  رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ 
  16. Enter into Isla m in its totality; don’t pick and choose from the D\u{012b}n.  
  17. Allah is ever ready to accept the du‘a s of His servants.  
  18. There are times when we say we are ready to do a certain thing but when that becomes binding on us, we back out. This is reprehensible behavior.
  19. The Help of Allah will come, albeit sometimes belatedly.  
  20. Allah does as He wishes; He is not accountable for His actions.  
  21. Spending: the do’s, don’ts, and virtues.
  22. Refrain from asking people for your needs; remain independent from the people, as special praise has been reserved for those who do, despite being in need.
  23. Stay away from interest, as Allah declares war on those who deal in interest. 
  24. Loans should be written down and dealt with properly.  
  25. Allah does not make obligatory upon us those things which we are incapable of carrying out.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

الٓمٓ

Alif-Laaam-Meeem
1. Alif, Lâm, Mîm.[5]
Verset 2 sur 10

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ لَا رَيۡبَۛ فِيهِۛ هُدٗى لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ

Zaalikal Kitaabu laa raiba feeh; hudal lilmuttaqeen.
2. Voici le Livre à propos duquel il n’y a nul doute, guide pour les gens pieux,
Verset 3 sur 10

ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ يُنفِقُونَ

Allazeena yu'minoona bilghaibi wa yuqeemoonas salaata wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yunfiqoon
3. qui croient à l’Inconnaissable (ghayb),[6] accomplissent la Çalât[7] et dépensent des biens que Nous leur avons dispensés.
Verset 4 sur 10

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبۡلِكَ وَبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمۡ يُوقِنُونَ

Wallazeena yu'minoona bimaa unzila ilaika wa maaa unzila min qablika wa bil Aakhirati hum yooqinoon
4. Ceux qui croient à ce qui t’a été révélé et à ce qui a été révélé avant toi, et qui croient avec certitude à la vie future.
Verset 5 sur 10

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدٗى مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡۖ وَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ

Ulaaa'ika 'alaa hudam mir rabbihim wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon
5. Ceux-là sont sur la voie de leur Seigneur et ceux-là sont ceux qui ont réussi.
Verset 6 sur 10

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡ أَمۡ لَمۡ تُنذِرۡهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ

Innal lazeena kafaroo sawaaa'un 'alaihim 'a-anzar tahum am lam tunzirhum laa yu'minoon
6. Ceux qui ont mécru, que tu les avertisses ou non, n’en seront pas moins mécréants.
Verset 7 sur 10

خَتَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ وَعَلَىٰ سَمۡعِهِمۡۖ وَعَلَىٰٓ أَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ غِشَٰوَةٞۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٞ

Khatamal laahu 'alaa quloobihim wa 'alaa sam'i-him wa 'alaaa absaarihim ghishaa watunw wa lahum 'azaabun 'azeem (section 1)
7. Allah a scellé leurs cœurs et leur ouïe, leur vue est obnubilée par un voile et il leur est promis un terrible supplice.
Verset 8 sur 10

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ وَمَا هُم بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ

Wa minan naasi mainy yaqoolu aamannaa billaahi wa bil yawmil aakhiri wa maa hum bimu'mineen
8. Il est des gens qui disent : « Nous croyons en Allah et au Jour Dernier » et[8] qui ne sont point croyants.
Verset 9 sur 10

يُخَٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَمَا يَخۡدَعُونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَمَا يَشۡعُرُونَ

Yukhaadi'oonal laaha wallazeena aamanoo wa maa yakhda'oona illaaa anfusahum wa maa yash'uroon.
9. Ils cherchent à tromper Allah et ceux qui ont cru mais ils ne trompent qu’eux-mêmes et ne le sentent pas.
Verset 10 sur 10

فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٞ فَزَادَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَرَضٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمُۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكۡذِبُونَ

Fee quloobihim mara dun fazaadahumul laahu maradah; wa lahum 'azaabun aleemum bimaa kaanoo yakziboon
10. Leurs cœurs sont minés par une maladie, alors Allah a ajouté à leur maladie[9] et ils auront un châtiment douloureux pour avoir menti.
