Al-Isr'ʾ (meaning: The Night Journey), also known as Banī Isr'ʾīl (meaning: The Children of Israel), is the 17th chapter (Surah) of the Quran, with 111 verses (Ayat).

The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Isra

 The disbelievers of Makkah are admonished to take lessons from the miserable end of the Israelites and other communities and mend their ways from this Surah, which is a wonderful blend of warning, admonition, and instruction. In this Surah important event has been mentioned regarding the night journey of our Holy Prophet to the heavens and meeting with Allah

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Isra

  1. On the Day of Judgement, everyone shall be handed their book of deeds, which will have every minute detail of their lives recorded. They themselves will be able to envisage their outcome that day. 
  2. Whoever strives solely behind the luxuries of this world, Allah's will give them whatever He wishes to, not what they themselves want, and then doom them to Jahannam.
  3. Whoever strives to acquire the luxuries of the Hereafter properly, Allah's will appreciate his/her efforts. 
  4. Each person will be responsible for his/her own burdens on the Day of Qiy'mah; not for those of others.  
  5. Be good to parents.  
  6. Make this du‘' regularly for your parents:

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Verset 1 sur 10

سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَسۡرَىٰ بِعَبۡدِهِۦ لَيۡلٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ إِلَى ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡأَقۡصَا ٱلَّذِي بَٰرَكۡنَا حَوۡلَهُۥ لِنُرِيَهُۥ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَآۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ

Subhaanal lazeee asraa bi'abdihee lailam minal Masjidil Haraami ilal Masjidil Aqsal-lazee baaraknaa haw lahoo linuriyahoo min aayaatinaa;innahoo Huwas Samee'ul-Baseer
1. Gloire soit rendue à Celui Qui fit voyager Son serviteur de nuit, depuis la Mosquée Sacrée (Al Masjid Al-Harâm) à la Mosquée Éloignée (Al Masjid Al-Aqçâ), dont Nous avons béni les environs, pour lui montrer certains de Nos Signes. C’est Lui Qui Entend Tout et Voit parfaitement clair.

Verset 2 sur 10

وَءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ هُدٗى لِّبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ أَلَّا تَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِي وَكِيلٗا

Wa aatainaa Moosal-Kitaaba wa ja'alnaahu hudal-liBaneee Israaa'eel; allaa tat-takhizoo min doonee wakeelaa
2. Nous avons donné à Moïse le Livre que Nous avons établi en guide pour les Enfants d’Israël (et y avons prescrit) : « Ne prenez pas d’autre protecteur que Moi. »

ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنۡ حَمَلۡنَا مَعَ نُوحٍۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَبۡدٗا شَكُورٗا

Zurriyyata man hamalnaa ma'a Noohin innahoo kaana 'abdan shakooraa
3. (Vous) les descendants de ceux que Nous avons transportés sur l’Arche avec Noé : il était un serviteur très reconnaissant.

Verset 4 sur 10

وَقَضَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ فِي ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لَتُفۡسِدُنَّ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَرَّتَيۡنِ وَلَتَعۡلُنَّ عُلُوّٗا كَبِيرٗا

Wa qadainaaa ilaa Baneee Israaa'eela fil Kitaabi latufsidunna fil ardi marratain; wa lata'lunna'uluwwan kabeeraa
4. Nous avons décrété dans le Livre, pour les Enfants d’Israël : « Vous sèmerez à deux reprises la corruption sur terre et vous vous montrerez excessivement hautains. »

Verset 5 sur 10

فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعۡدُ أُولَىٰهُمَا بَعَثۡنَا عَلَيۡكُمۡ عِبَادٗا لَّنَآ أُوْلِي بَأۡسٖ شَدِيدٖ فَجَاسُواْ خِلَٰلَ ٱلدِّيَارِۚ وَكَانَ وَعۡدٗا مَّفۡعُولٗا

Fa-izaa jaaa'a wa'duoolaahumaa ba'asnaaa 'alykum 'ibaadal-lanaaa ulee baasin shadeedin fajaasoo khilaalad diyaar; wa kaana wa'dam maf'oolaa
5. Lorsque sera accomplie la première des deux (promesses), Nous enverrons contre vous certains de Nos serviteurs féroces au combat, qui ravageront vos maisons. Et la promesse, alors, s’accomplira.

Verset 6 sur 10

ثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَا لَكُمُ ٱلۡكَرَّةَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَأَمۡدَدۡنَٰكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلۡنَٰكُمۡ أَكۡثَرَ نَفِيرًا

Summa radadnaa lakumul karrata 'alaihim wa amdad-naakum-bi amwaalinuw wa baneen; wa ja'alnaakum aksara nafeeraa
6. Puis Nous vous permettrons de prendre sur eux votre revanche et vous donnerons en renfort des biens et des enfants ; et Nous ferons de vous un peuple plus nombreux.

Verset 7 sur 10

إِنۡ أَحۡسَنتُمۡ أَحۡسَنتُمۡ لِأَنفُسِكُمۡۖ وَإِنۡ أَسَأۡتُمۡ فَلَهَاۚ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعۡدُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ لِيَسُـُٔواْ وُجُوهَكُمۡ وَلِيَدۡخُلُواْ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٖ وَلِيُتَبِّرُواْ مَا عَلَوۡاْ تَتۡبِيرًا

In ahsantum ahsantum li anfusikum wa in asaatum falahaa; fa izaa jaaa'a wa'dul aakhirati liyasooo'oo wujoo hakum wa liyadkhulul masjida kamaa dakhaloohu awwala marratinw wa liyutabbiroo maa a'law tatbeera
7. Si vous faites le bien, vous le ferez certainement pour vous-mêmes ; et si vous faites le mal, ce sera à votre détriment. Et lorsque s’accomplira l’autre promesse, ils viendront marquer d’affliction vos visages, et entreront dans la Mosquée comme ils y étaient entrés la première fois, et dévasteront complètement ce qu’ils auront envahi.

Verset 8 sur 10

عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمۡ أَن يَرۡحَمَكُمۡۚ وَإِنۡ عُدتُّمۡ عُدۡنَاۚ وَجَعَلۡنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ حَصِيرًا

'Asaa rabbukum anyyarhamakum; wa in 'uttum 'udnaa; wa ja'alnaa jahannama lilkaafireena haseera
8. Votre Seigneur, peut-être, vous fera miséricorde. Mais si vous revenez à la charge, Nous reviendrons aussi. Et Nous avons fait de la Géhenne la prison des mécréants.

Verset 9 sur 10

إِنَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ يَهۡدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقۡوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٗا كَبِيرٗا

Inna haazal Quraana yahdee lillatee hiya aqwamu wa yubashshirul mu'mineenal lazeena ya'maloonas saalihaati anna lahum ajran kabeeraa
9. Ce Coran conduit vers la voie de la droiture, et annonce aux croyants qui accomplissent les bonnes œuvres qu’ils seront grandement récompensés,

Verset 10 sur 10

وَأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا

Wa annal lazeena laa yu'minoona bil aakhirati a'tadnaa lahum 'azaaban aleemaa (section 1)
10. et (annonce de même) à ceux qui ne croient pas en l’autre monde, que Nous leur avons ménagé un supplice très douloureux.
