The summary/theme of the surah al-munafiqun

The theme of Qur'an 63 is to inform believers that hypocrites are absolute liars. It also exhorts believers to be sincere in their faith and provide for their families.

Lesson learned from surah al-munafiqun

  1. No matter how hard you try to convince yourself or others of how you feel, Allah's knows the reality better than anyone.  
  2. If you jump at every call thinking it’s relevant to you, it is a sign of a guilty conscience.  
  3. The hypocrites would regularly do things that would deeply upset the Muslims, yet they couldn’t do much in retaliation given the circumstances. Allah's revealed this surah and many other Ayahs to console the hearts of the believers.  
  4. Only Allah's has total control over the treasures of the heavens and the earth.  
  5. Do not let your wealth and offspring distract you from the remembrance and obedience of Allah's.  
  6. A person who doesn’t give zak'h will see the punishment before he/she passes away, and will desire to be given respite to make amends; a desire that shall not be allowed to be fulfilled.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقُونَ قَالُواْ نَشۡهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشۡهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

Izaa jaaa'akal munaafiqoona qaaloo nashhadu innaka la rasoolul laah; wallaahu ya'lamu innaka la rasooluhoo wallaahu yashhadu innal munaafiqeena lakaaziboon
வானங்களில் உள்ளவர்களும் பூமியில் உள்ளவர்களும் பேரரசனாகிய, மிக பரிசுத்தவனாகிய, மிகைத்தவனாகிய, மகா ஞானவானாகிய அல்லாஹ்வை துதித்து தொழுகின்றன.

ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

Ittakhazoo aymaanahum junnatan fasaddoo 'an sabeelil laah; innahum saaa'a maa kaanoo ya'maloon
அவர்கள் தங்கள் (பொய்) சத்தியங்களை (அல்லாஹ்வின் உலக தண்டனையில் இருந்து தப்பிப்பதற்கு) கேடயமாக ஆக்கிக்கொண்டனர். ஆகவே (அதைக் கொண்டு) அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையை விட்டு (மக்களை) தடுத்தனர். நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தவை மிகக் கெட்டுவிட்டன.

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ ءَامَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ فَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ لَا يَفۡقَهُونَ

Zaalika bi annahum aamanoo summa kafaroo fatubi'a 'alaa quloobihim fahum laa yafqahoon
அதற்கு காரணம், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் (முதலில் வெளிப்படையாக) நம்பிக்கை கொண்டனர், (ஆனால்) பிறகு, (உள்ளுக்குள்) நிராகரித்தனர். ஆகவே, அவர்களின் உள்ளங்கள் மீது முத்திரை இடப்பட்டுவிட்டது. ஆகவே, அவர்கள் (தங்களுக்குரிய சீர்திருத்தத்தை, நன்மையை) புரிய மாட்டார்கள்.

۞وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ تُعۡجِبُكَ أَجۡسَامُهُمۡۖ وَإِن يَقُولُواْ تَسۡمَعۡ لِقَوۡلِهِمۡۖ كَأَنَّهُمۡ خُشُبٞ مُّسَنَّدَةٞۖ يَحۡسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيۡحَةٍ عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ هُمُ ٱلۡعَدُوُّ فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمۡۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَكُونَ

Wa izaa ra aytahum tu'jibuka ajsaamuhum wa iny yaqooloo tasma' liqawlihim ka'annahum khushubum musannadah; yahsaboona kulla saihatin 'alaihim; humul 'aduwwu fahzarhum; qaatalahumul laahu annaa yu'fakoon
இன்னும், (நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களைப் பார்த்தால் அவர்களின் உடல்கள் (-வெளித் தோற்றங்கள்) உம்மைக் கவரும். அவர்கள் (உம்மிடம் ஏதும்) கூறினால் அவர்களின் கூற்றை நீர் செவியுறுவீர். (அவர்களின் பேச்சு அந்தளவு கவர்ச்சியாக, ஈர்ப்புடையதாக இருக்கும். அவர்களின் உள்ளங்களும் அறிவுகளும் பயனற்றவையாக இருப்பதால் அவர்களின் வெறும் உடல் தோற்றம் மட்டும்தான் பிரமிக்க வைக்கக்கூடியதாக இருக்கும். எனவே,) அவர்கள் சாய்த்து வைக்கப்பட்ட மரப்பலகைகளைப் போல் இருப்பார்கள். ஒவ்வொரு சத்தத்தையும் தங்களுக்கு பாதகமாகவே எண்ணுவார்கள். அவர்கள்தான் (உங்களுக்கு மோசமான) எதிரிகள். ஆகவே, அவர்களிடம் கவனமாக இருப்பீராக! அல்லாஹ் அவர்களை அழிப்பான். (நேர்வழியில் இருந்து) அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு திருப்பப்படுகிறார்கள்!

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡاْ يَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوۡاْ رُءُوسَهُمۡ وَرَأَيۡتَهُمۡ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ

Wa izaa qeela lahum ta'aalaw yastaghfir lakum rasoolul laahi lawwaw ru'oo sahum wa ra aytahum yasuddoona wa hum mustakbiroon
(உங்கள் செயல்களுக்காக வருந்தி, திருந்தி) வாருங்கள், அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர் உங்களுக்காக (அல்லாஹ்விடம் பாவ)மன்னிப்புத் தேடுவார் என்று அவர்களிடம் கூறப்பட்டால், தங்கள் தலைகளை (இங்கும் அங்கும்) வேகமாக அசைக்கிறார்கள். இன்னும், (உம்மை) புறக்கணிப்பவர்களாகவே அவர்களை நீர் காண்பீர். அவர்களோ (அல்லாஹ்வின் கட்டளைக்கு கீழ்ப்படியாமல்) பெருமையடிப்பவர்கள் ஆவார்கள்.

سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ أَسۡتَغۡفَرۡتَ لَهُمۡ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ لَن يَغۡفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ

Sawaaa'un 'alaihim as taghfarta lahum am lam tastaghfir lahum lany yaghfiral laahu lahum; innal laaha laa yahdil qawmal faasiqeen
நீர் அவர்களுக்காக பாவமன்னிப்புத் தேடினாலும், அவர்களுக்காக பாவமன்னிப்புத் தேடவில்லை என்றாலும் (இரண்டும்) அவர்களுக்கு சமம்தான். அல்லாஹ் அவர்களை மன்னிக்கவே மாட்டான். நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் (தனக்கு கீழ்ப்படிய மறுக்கிற) பாவிகளான மக்களை நேர்வழி செலுத்த மாட்டான்.

هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنفِقُواْ عَلَىٰ مَنۡ عِندَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ حَتَّىٰ يَنفَضُّواْۗ وَلِلَّهِ خَزَآئِنُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَا يَفۡقَهُونَ

Humul lazeena yaqooloona laa tunfiqoo 'alaa man inda Rasoolil laahi hatta yanfaddoo; wa lillaahi khazaaa' inus samaawaati wal ardi wa laakinnal munaafiqeena la yafqahoon
“அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதரிடம் இருப்பவர்கள் மீது தர்மம் செய்யாதீர்கள், இறுதியாக அவர்கள் (நபியை விட்டும்) பிரிந்து விடுவார்கள்” என்று இவர்கள் கூறுகிறார்கள். வானங்கள் இன்னும் பூமியின் பொக்கிஷங்கள் எல்லாம் அல்லாஹ்விற்கே உரியன. என்றாலும் நயவஞ்சகர்கள் புரிய மாட்டார்கள்.

يَقُولُونَ لَئِن رَّجَعۡنَآ إِلَى ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ لَيُخۡرِجَنَّ ٱلۡأَعَزُّ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡأَذَلَّۚ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

Yaqooloona la'ir raja'naaa ilal madeenati la yukhrijannal a'azzu minhal azall; wa lillaahil 'izzatu wa li Rasoolihee wa lilmu'mineena wa laakinnal munaafiqeena laa ya'lamoon
“நாம் மதீனாவிற்கு திரும்பினால் கண்ணியவான்கள் (ஆகிய நாம்) தாழ்ந்தவர்(களாகிய முஹாஜிர்)களை அதிலிருந்து நிச்சயமாக வெளியேற்ற வேண்டும்” என்று அவர்கள் கூறுகிறார்கள். அல்லாஹ்விற்கும் அவனது தூதருக்கும் நம்பிக்கையாளர்களுக்கும்தான் கண்ணியம் உரியது. என்றாலும், நயவஞ்சகர்கள் (இதை) அறியமாட்டார்கள்.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تُلۡهِكُمۡ أَمۡوَٰلُكُمۡ وَلَآ أَوۡلَٰدُكُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَمَن يَفۡعَلۡ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ

Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo la tulhikum amwaalukum wa laa awlaadukum 'anzikril laah; wa mai-yaf'al zaalika fa-ulaaa'ika humul khaasiroon
நம்பிக்கையாளர்களே! உங்கள் செல்வங்களும் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் உங்களை அல்லாஹ்வின் நினைவை விட்டும் திருப்பி (உலகக் காரியங்களில் ஈடுபடுத்தி) விடவேண்டாம். ஆக, அத்தகையவர்கள்தான் நஷ்டவாளிகள்.

وَأَنفِقُواْ مِن مَّا رَزَقۡنَٰكُم مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوۡلَآ أَخَّرۡتَنِيٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ قَرِيبٖ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

Wa anfiqoo mim maa razaqnaakum min qabli any-ya'tiya ahadakumul mawtu fa yaqoola rabbi law laaa akhkhartaneee ilaaa ajalin qareebin fa assaddaqa wa akum minassaaliheen
இன்னும், உங்களில் ஒருவருக்கு மரணம் வருவதற்கு முன்னர் நாம் உங்களுக்கு கொடுத்தவற்றில் இருந்து (நல்ல வழிகளில்) தர்மம் செய்யுங்கள். ஆக, (ஒருவருக்கு மரணம் வந்துவிட்டால்) அவர் கூறுவார்: “என் இறைவா! நீ என்னை (-என் மரணத்தை) கொஞ்சம் சமீபமான தவணை வரை (இவ்வுலகில்) பிற்படுத்தி வைக்கமாட்டாயா! (இன்னும் சிறிது காலம் வாழவைக்க மாட்டாயா!). நான் தர்மம் செய்வேனே, நல்லவர்களில் ஆகிவிடுவேனே.”
