Ayah 50

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمۡ هُودٗاۚ قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَٰهٍ غَيۡرُهُۥٓۖ إِنۡ أَنتُمۡ إِلَّا مُفۡتَرُونَ

50. And to 'Aad [was sent] their brother Hud [107]. He said, 'O my people, worship Allah [108]. You have no deity other than Him. You are but fabricators.

Ayah 51

يَٰقَوۡمِ لَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ أَجۡرًاۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِي فَطَرَنِيٓۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ

51. O my people, I do not ask you for any reward for this. My reward is only from the One who created me [109]. Will you not then understand?

Ayah 52

وَيَٰقَوۡمِ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِ يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارٗا وَيَزِدۡكُمۡ قُوَّةً إِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمۡ وَلَا تَتَوَلَّوۡاْ مُجۡرِمِينَ

52. And O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and turn to Him in repentance. He will send down abundant rain upon you [110] and increase your strength [111] upon your strength. And do not turn away as criminals.

Ayah 53

قَالُواْ يَٰهُودُ مَا جِئۡتَنَا بِبَيِّنَةٖ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِتَارِكِيٓ ءَالِهَتِنَا عَن قَوۡلِكَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكَ بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ

53. They said, "O Hud, you have not brought us any clear proof [112], and we are not going to abandon our gods because of your statement, nor are we going to believe in you" [113].

Ayah 54

إِن نَّقُولُ إِلَّا ٱعۡتَرَىٰكَ بَعۡضُ ءَالِهَتِنَا بِسُوٓءٖۗ قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أُشۡهِدُ ٱللَّهَ وَٱشۡهَدُوٓاْ أَنِّي بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تُشۡرِكُونَ

54. They said, "We only say that one of our gods has afflicted you with evil [114]." He replied, "I call Allah to witness, and you too bear witness [115] that I am free from what you associate with Him."

Ayah 55

مِن دُونِهِۦۖ فَكِيدُونِي جَمِيعٗا ثُمَّ لَا تُنظِرُونِ

55. Besides Him, devise your plot against me all together [116], and give me no respite.

Ayah 56

إِنِّي تَوَكَّلۡتُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمۚ مَّا مِن دَآبَّةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ ءَاخِذُۢ بِنَاصِيَتِهَآۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ

56. I rely [117] on Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no moving creature whose forelock is not under His control. Indeed, my Lord [His guidance] is on a straight path [118].

Ayah 57

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَقَدۡ أَبۡلَغۡتُكُم مَّآ أُرۡسِلۡتُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَيۡكُمۡۚ وَيَسۡتَخۡلِفُ رَبِّي قَوۡمًا غَيۡرَكُمۡ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُۥ شَيۡـًٔاۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ حَفِيظٞ

57. Then if you turn away, I have already conveyed to you what I was sent with [119]. My Lord will bring forth a people other than you [120], and you cannot harm Him at all. Indeed, my Lord is watchful over everything.

Ayah 58

وَلَمَّا جَآءَ أَمۡرُنَا نَجَّيۡنَا هُودٗا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحۡمَةٖ مِّنَّا وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُم مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٖ

58. And when Our command came, We saved [121] Hud and the believers with him by Our mercy, and delivered them from a severe torment [122].

Ayah 59

وَتِلۡكَ عَادٞۖ جَحَدُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَعَصَوۡاْ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٖ

59. And these are 'Aad. They denied the signs of their Lord and disobeyed [123] His messengers. They followed the command of every rebellious, obstinate tyrant.

Ayah 60

وَأُتۡبِعُواْ فِي هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا لَعۡنَةٗ وَيَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ عَادٗا كَفَرُواْ رَبَّهُمۡۗ أَلَا بُعۡدٗا لِّعَادٖ قَوۡمِ هُودٖ

60. And a curse [124] was followed them in this world and on the Day of Judgment. Listen, 'Aad rejected [125] their Lord. Away with 'Aad, the people of Hud [126].
