Ayah 70

فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمۡ جَعَلَ ٱلسِّقَايَةَ فِي رَحۡلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا ٱلۡعِيرُ إِنَّكُمۡ لَسَٰرِقُونَ

70. And when he had prepared their supplies, he put the drinking cup in his brother’s saddlebag [152]. Then a crier called out, “O caravan, you are indeed thieves [153].”

Ayah 71

قَالُواْ وَأَقۡبَلُواْ عَلَيۡهِم مَّاذَا تَفۡقِدُونَ

71. hey said, turning towards them, 'What is it that you are missing?'

Ayah 73

قَالُواْ تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُم مَّا جِئۡنَا لِنُفۡسِدَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا كُنَّا سَٰرِقِينَ

73. They said, “By God, you know well that we did not come to cause mischief in the land, nor are we thieves [157].”

قَالُواْ فَمَا جَزَـٰٓؤُهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ كَٰذِبِينَ

74. They said, “What is the penalty for him if you are liars [158]?”

Ayah 75

قَالُواْ جَزَـٰٓؤُهُۥ مَن وُجِدَ فِي رَحۡلِهِۦ فَهُوَ جَزَـٰٓؤُهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

75. They said, “The penalty for him is that he in whose baggage it is found shall be the servant in recompense. Thus do We punish the wrongdoers [159].”

Ayah 81

ٱرۡجِعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيكُمۡ فَقُولُواْ يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّ ٱبۡنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدۡنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمۡنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلۡغَيۡبِ حَٰفِظِينَ

81. Return to your father and say, "[O our father], indeed your son has stolen [175], and we testified only to what we knew, and we were not guardians over the unseen."
