Ar-Rum (Arabic: الروم, romanized: ’ar-rūm, lit. 'The Romans') is the 30th chapter (Surah) of the Quran, consisting of 60 verses (Ayat).

The summary/theme of the Surah Ar-Rum:

 In this Surah, a large part of the verses talk about the divine bounties in heaven and on earth, the conjugality system in plants and animals, the creation of man from dust, the relationship between a man and a woman, work during the day and sleep at night, rain, winds, and the revival of the earth.

Lesson learned from Surah Ar-Rum:

  1. To Allah's belongs all matters, at all times.  
  2. Allah's does not go against His promise.  
  3. Most people are aware of the superficial things regarding the worldly life, but are neglectful of the life Hereafter.  
  4. Allah's created spouses so that they find tranquillity in one another.  
  5. It’s worrying how in difficulty and when faced with adversity, we remember Allah's, yet when He blesses us with some goodness, we forget Him.  
  6. Allah's opens up sustenance for whomsoever He wishes, and restricts it from whomsoever He wishes.  
  7. Corruption spreads in the land and the sea due to the evils of the people, so that Allah's may show them the consequences of their actions, and that they may repent.  
  8. Travel the world and observe how the people of the past met their ends.

فِيٓ أَدۡنَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ غَلَبِهِمۡ سَيَغۡلِبُونَ

Feee adnal ardi wa hummim ba'di ghalabihim sa-yaghliboon
di negeri yang terdekat633) dan mereka setelah kekalahannya itu akan menang,634)

فِي بِضۡعِ سِنِينَۗ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ مِن قَبۡلُ وَمِنۢ بَعۡدُۚ وَيَوۡمَئِذٖ يَفۡرَحُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ

Fee bid'i sineen; lillaahil amru min qablu wa mim ba'd; wa yawma'iziny yafrahul mu'minoon
dalam beberapa tahun (lagi).635) Bagi Allah lah urusan sebelum dan setelah (mereka menang). Dan pada hari (kemenangan bangsa Romawi) itu bergembiralah orang-orang yang beriman,

بِنَصۡرِ ٱللَّهِۚ يَنصُرُ مَن يَشَآءُۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Binasril laa; yansuru mai yashaaa'u wa Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem
karena pertolongan Allah. Dia menolong siapa yang Dia kehendaki. Dia Mahaperkasa, Maha Penyayang.

Ayat 6 dari 60

وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِۖ لَا يُخۡلِفُ ٱللَّهُ وَعۡدَهُۥ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

Wa'dal laahi laa yukhliful laahu wa'dahoo wa laakin na aksaran naasi laa ya'lamoon
(Itulah) janji Allah. Allah tidak akan menyalahi janji-Nya, tetapi kebanyakan manusia tidak mengetahui.

يَعۡلَمُونَ ظَٰهِرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمۡ غَٰفِلُونَ

Ya'lamoona zaahiram minal hayaatid dunya wa hum 'anil Aakhirati hum ghaafiloon
Mereka mengetahui yang lahir (tampak) dari kehidupan dunia; sedangkan terhadap (kehidupan) akhirat mereka lalai.

Ayat 8 dari 60

أَوَلَمۡ يَتَفَكَّرُواْ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۗ مَّا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗىۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرٗا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِلِقَآيِٕ رَبِّهِمۡ لَكَٰفِرُونَ

Awalam yatafakkaroo feee anfusihim; maa khalaqal laahus samaawaati wal arda wa maa bainahumaaa illaa bil haqqi wa ajalim musammaa; wa inna kaseeram minan naasi biliqaaa'i Rabbihim lakaafiroon
Dan mengapa mereka tidak memikirkan tentang (kejadian) diri mereka? Allah tidak menciptakan langit dan bumi dan apa yang ada di antara keduanya melainkan dengan (tujuan) yang benar dan dalam waktu yang ditentukan. Dan sesungguhnya banyak di antara manusia benar-benar mengingkari pertemuan dengan Tuhannya.

Ayat 9 dari 60

أَوَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةٗ وَأَثَارُواْ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَعَمَرُوهَآ أَكۡثَرَ مِمَّا عَمَرُوهَا وَجَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظۡلِمَهُمۡ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ يَظۡلِمُونَ

Awalam yaseeroo fil ardi fa-yanzuroo kaifa kaana 'aaqibatul lazeena min qablihim; kaanooo ashadda minhhum quwwatanw wa asaarul arda wa 'amaroohaaa aksara mimmaa 'amaroohaa wa jaaa'athum Rusuluhum bil baiyinaati famaa kaanal laahu liyazli mahum wa laakin kaanooo anfusahum yazlimoon
Dan tidakkah mereka bepergian di bumi lalu melihat bagaimana kesudahan orang-orang sebelum mereka (yang mendustakan rasul)? Orang-orang itu lebih kuat dari mereka (sendiri), dan mereka telah mengolah bumi (tanah) serta memakmurkannya melebihi apa yang telah mereka makmurkan. Dan telah datang kepada mereka rasul-rasul mereka dengan membawa bukti-bukti yang jelas. Maka Allah sama sekali tidak berlaku zalim kepada mereka, tetapi merekalah yang berlaku zalim kepada diri mereka sendiri.

Ayat 10 dari 60

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔواْ ٱلسُّوٓأَىٰٓ أَن كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُواْ بِهَا يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

Summa kaana'aaqibatal lazeena asaaa'us sooo aaa an kazzaboo bi aayaatil laahi wa kaanoo bihaa yastahzi'oon (section 1)
Kemudian, azab yang lebih buruk adalah kesudahan bagi orang-orang yang mengerjakan kejahatan. Karena mereka mendustakan ayat-ayat Allah dan mereka selalu memperolok-olokkannya.
