Surah Al-Baqarah

English Translation, Transliteration, Tafsir - Ayat [261-270]

Ayah 261 of 286

Masalul lazeena yunfiqoona amwaalahum fee sabeelil laahi kamasali habbatin ambatat sab'a sanaabila fee kulli sumbulatim mi'atu habbah; wallaahu yudaa'ifu limai yashaaa; wallaahu Waasi'un 'Aleem
261. The example of those who spend [683] their wealth in the way of Allah is like a grain of wheat, which grows into seven [684] offshoots, and each offshoot contains one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies (His rewards) to whomsoever He pleases [685]. And Allah is the All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.
Ayah 262 of 286

Allazeena yunfiqoona amwaalahum fee sabeelillaahi summa laa yutbi'oona maaa anfaqoo mannanw wa laaa azal lahum ajruhum 'inda Rabbihim; wa laa khawfun 'alaihim wa laa hum yahzanoon
262.Those who spend [686] their wealth in the path of Allah, then after spending, neither boast of favours conferred, nor taunt [687]. Their reward is with their Lord. And they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve [688].
Ayah 263 of 286

Qawlum ma'roofunw wa maghfiratun khairum min sadaqatiny yatba'uhaaa azaa; wallaahu Ghaniyyun Haleem
263. To speak kind words and to forgive [689] is better than charity followed by injury. And Allah is Self-Sufficient and forbearing [690].
Ayah 264 of 286

Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa tubtiloo sadaqaatikum bilmanni wal azaa kallazee yunfiqu maalahoo ri'aaa'an naasi wa laa yu'minu billaahi wal yawmil aakhiri famasaluhoo kamasali safwaanin 'alaihi turaabun fa asaabahoo waabilun fatara kahoo saldaa; laa yaqdiroona 'alaa shai'im mimmaa kasaboo; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmal kaafireen
264. O you who believe! Do not render in vain your charities by boasting of your favors conferred followed by injury [691], like him who spent [692] his wealth for showing to people and believes not in Allah and the Last Day. Then the example of such a person is like that of a smooth rock upon which is dust [693]; and it is struck by a heavy rain, leaving it a bare stone [694]. They shall have no control [695] on anything of what they have earned, and Allah does not guide the people who disbelieve [696].
Ayah 265 of 286

Wa masalul lazeena yunfiqoona amwaalahu mubtighaaa'a mardaatil laahi wa tasbeetam min anfusihim kamasali jannatim birabwatin asaabahaa waabilun fa aatat ukulahaa di'faini fa il lam yusibhaa waabilun fatall; wallaahu bimaa ta'maloona Baseer
265. And the example of those who spend their wealth to seek the pleasure of Allah [697] and to strengthen their hearts is like a garden on elevated [698] ground. Heavy rain fell upon it, and it yielded double the fruit. And if heavy rain does not fall on it, then dew suffices [699]. And Allah observes what you do [700].
Ayah 266 of 286

Ayawaddu ahadukum an takoona lahoo jannatum min nakheelinw wa a'naabin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru lahoo feehaa min kullis samaraati wa asaabahul kibaru wa lahoo zurriyyatun du'afaaa'u fa asaabahaaa i'saarun feehi naarun fahtaraqat; kazaalika yubaiyinul laahu lakumul aayaati la'allakum tatafakkaroon
266. Does any one of you like to have a garden of dates and grapes [701], beneath which rivers flow, in which there are all kinds of fruit? Then, old age came to him and he has weak children [702]. Then came a whirlwind containing fire, and so it was burnt. Thus does Allah make clear to you His signs, so that you may ponder [703].

Ayah 267 of 286

Yaaa 'ayyuhal lazeena aamanooo anfiqoo min taiyibaati maa kasabtum wa mimmaaa akhrajna lakum minal ardi wa laa tayammamul khabeesa minhu tunfiqoona wa lastum bi aakhizeehi illaaa an tughmidoo feeh; wa'lamooo annal laaha Ghaniyyun Hameed
267. O you who believe! Give [704] from the good things, which you have earned, and from what We have brought forth for you from the earth [705]. Do not intend to give the worthless part of your earnings in charity, while you would not take it yourself, unless with closed eyes [706]. And know that Allah is Self-Sufficient and Praiseworthy.
Ayah 268 of 286

268. The devil threatens you with poverty and commands you to commit lewdness [707]. But Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. Surely, Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing [708].
Ayah 269 of 286

Yu'til Hikmata mai yashaaa'; wa mai yu'tal Hikmata faqad ootiya khairan kaseeraa; wa maa yazzakkaru illaaa ulul albaab
269. He bestows wisdom [709] upon whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good [710]. And none pay attention to guidance except those of understanding.
Ayah 270 of 286

270. And whatever you spend on expenditures or make vows [711], then surely Allah knows of it. And for the unjust, there are no helpers [712].
