وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُواْ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِينَ

Wa aatainaahum Aayaatinaa fakaanoo 'anhaa mu'rideen
और हमने उन्हें अपनी निशानियाँ दीं, तो वे उनसे मुँह फेरने वाले थे।

وَكَانُواْ يَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ

Wa kaanoo yanhitoona minal jibaali buyootan aamineen
और वे निर्भय होकर पर्वतों को काटकर घर बनाते थे।

फिर उनके किसी काम न आया, जो वे कमाया करते थे।

आयत 85 में से 99

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞۖ فَٱصۡفَحِ ٱلصَّفۡحَ ٱلۡجَمِيلَ

Wa maa khalaqnas samaawaati wal arda wa maa bainahumaaa illaa bilhaqq; wa innas Saa'ata la aatiyatun fasfahis safhal jameel
और हमने आकाशों तथा धरती और उन दोनों के बीच मौजूद सारी चीज़ों को सत्य के साथ पैदा किया है। और निःसंदेह क़ियामत अवश्य आने वाली है। अतः (ऐ नबी!) आप (उन्हें) भले तौर पर क्षमा कर दें।

Inna Rabbaka Huwal khallaaqul 'aleem
निःसंदेह आपका पालनहार ही हर चीज़ को पैदा करने वाला, सब कुछ जानने वाला है।

Wa laqad aatainaaka sab'am minal masaanee wal Qur-aanal 'Azeem
तथा (ऐ नबी!) हमने आपको बार-बार दोहराई जाने वाली सात आयतें और महान क़ुरआन[21] प्रदान किया है।

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيۡنَيۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزۡوَٰجٗا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

Laa tamuddanna 'ainaika ilaa maa matta 'naa biheee azwaajam minhum wa laa tahzan 'alaihim wakhfid janaahaka lilmu 'mineen
आप उसकी ओर हरगिज़ न देखें, जो सुख-सामग्री हमने उनमें से विभिन्न प्रकार के लोगों को दे रखी है और न उनपर दुखी हों और ईमान वालों के लिए अपने बाज़ू झुका दें (यानी उनके लिए विनम्र रहें)।

और कह दें कि निःसंदेह मैं तो खुल्लम-खुल्ला डराने[22] वाला हूँ।
